Today's Final Jeopardy - Monday, February 20, 2023 (2024)

Warning: This page contains spoilers for the February 20, 2023, game of Jeopardy! — please do not scroll down if you wish to avoid being spoiled. Please note that the game airs as early as noon Eastern in some U.S. television markets.

Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Writers & The South) for Monday, February 20, 2023 (Season 39, Game 116):

In 1939 he lived on Toulouse Street in the French Quarter & chose the professional name that bonded him to the South

(correct response beneath the contestants)

Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:

Rohit Kataria, a junior at Vanderbilt University from Wheelersburg, Ohio
Today's Final Jeopardy - Monday, February 20, 2023 (1)
Maya Wright, a senior at Emory University from Peachtree City, Georgia
Today's Final Jeopardy - Monday, February 20, 2023 (2)
Audrey Sarin, a senior at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo from Seattle, Washington
Today's Final Jeopardy - Monday, February 20, 2023 (3)

Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:

Today is quarterfinal #1 of the 2023 High School Reunion Tournament; over the next 14 episodes, 27 of the 30 players from the two Season 35 Teen Tournaments have returned to the Alex Trebek Stage to compete again. One change from the last time these players were here: only the winners advance, and there are no wild cards. Today’s opening quarterfinal features one of the finalists from the 2018 event in Maya Wright, now a senior at Emory, facing off with Audrey Sarin and Rohit Kataria, two quarterfinalists from 2019.

Mayim Bialik will host this tournament; Ken Jennings returns on March 10. This is your reminder that there is a very vocal minority of anti-Mayim Bialik people on social media, whose words get amplified by tabloids. The vast majority of Jeopardy! fans do not have any problem whatsoever with Mayim Bialik, and it is my hope that Sony’s TV brass are aware of this and choose to ignore the junk tabloid articles.

PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

Tennessee Williams’ professional name evolved from a nickname he had been given by a college roommate due to his father originally being a Tennessee pioneer. His most famous works came in 1944 with The Glass Menagerie, in 1947 with A Streetcar Named Desire, and in 1955 with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

One of Williams’ later plays, Vieux Carré, was actually set on Toulouse Street.

Maya: There’s no advantage to running up the score here. Bet $0. (Actual bet: $1,200)
