New “Vision for Good” 2021 impact review details the company’s efforts to create positive impact — helping keep communities, people, and the planet healthy.
JACKSONVILLE, FLA. AND SANTA ANA, CALIF. – Oct. 13, 2022 – Johnson & Johnson Vision*, a global leader in eye health and part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech**, announced today the release of its annual “Vision for Good” impact review. Motivated by an ambition to not just redefine healthy sight for life, but to do good in the process, “Vision for Good” is the company’s social responsibility rally cry. The “Vision for Good” 2021 impact reviewdetails the positive impact Johnson & Johnson Vision has made on communities, people, and the planet.
“Sight is our most treasured sense and leads how we experience the world — yet 2.2 billion people are living with vision impairment, nearly half of which could have been prevented or has gone untreated,1” said Peter Menziuso, Company Group Chairman, Johnson & Johnson Vision.*** “Our teams around the globe show up every day to do right by the people we serve, working to improve sight for more than 40 million people each year.2 But our purpose goes beyond changing the trajectory of eye health. The level of dedication, passion, and service our teammates display every day to drive meaningful change and bring our ‘Vision for Good’ to life is truly inspirational.”
Highlights from the “Vision for Good” 2021 impact review include:
- Good for Communities:Driving equity, eye health awareness and increasing access to care by helping nonprofit partners continue to address unmet needs in global communities. Over two decades, Johnson & Johnson Vision and Lions Clubs International Foundation have provided access to eye care to 42 million children in under-resourced communities worldwide through the co-founded Sight For Kids program, the largest-known school-based eye health program in the world.3 In 2021, the program was brought to the U.S. for the first time, launching in South Florida to help close the gap in eye health care for children in the area.
- Good for Talent:Creating an environment where Johnson & Johnson Vision colleagues can achieve their full potential and feel they belong. Johnson & Johnson Vision is proud to support 23 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including the Open&Out ERG in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. To celebrate Pride Month in 2021, Open&Out hosted soccer star, World Cup Champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Briana Scurry, to speak about the importance of being accepted.
- Good for the Planet: Continuing efforts to help protect the planet by exploring innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions. This includes a milestone moment — three years ahead of its goal, Johnson & Johnson Vision now produces its ACUVUE® brand contact lenses by the power of wind and sun — 100% renewable electricity.4
“Twenty years ago, we began a partnership with Johnson & Johnson Vision based on a shared goal of doing good — providing the gift of healthy sight to children around the world,” said Douglas X. Alexander, Chairperson, Lions Clubs International Foundation. “It has been incredible to see the difference our teams, partner educators, and eye care professionals have made in the global communities we serve, providing 42 million children access to eye care. Now that’s a ‘Vision for Good’.”
