Methodology TLDR:
- Our first tier list aimed at lower ELO, specifically Bronze up to high Plat/low Diamond. Our second tier list is for high ELO, aimed at Diamond 2 and above.
- Our experts curate these picks and are an indicator of the champion’s inherent strength when played at the highest level. For many of the user base, this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.
Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in solo Queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Top – Sett
- Sett is performing super well right now across the majority of ranks, and with Stridebreaker and the NEW item Overlord’s Bloodmail, he packs a serious punch.
- His W has some pretty crazy damage when you line it up perfectly, and with his Ultimate and damage you can easily carry any fight against the odds!
Jungle – Skarner
- Skarner is still causing havoc from the jungle at every single rank, and with no nerfs in Patch 14.11 he will continue to be one of the scariest junglers to play against.
- Skarner has an easy and speed clear, unconventional gank paths through walls with his E, and a ton of CC to set up ganks and start snowballing lanes very quickly.
- He’s an absolute meat shield in teamfights with huge engage and amazing peel, so if he isn’t banned? Keep abusing him whilst you still can!
Mid – Lux
- Lux is shining bright once against in the mid lane as she rises up to the S tier this patch! She’s been steadily creeping back into the meta again recently and has been performing incredible well recently with a fantastic success rate across the board.
- The recently buffed Luden’s Companion alongside Horizon Focus just gives her some pretty nasty burst damage which she can abuse with her crazy long range, and then you add in her waveclear & utility and you get a fantastic pick to carry with this patch.
Bottom – Jhin
- Jhin is back to his best again with a super impressive win rate across every single rank. He’s got tons of damage, amazing burst, long range sniping power and can easily slot in to the majority of drafts without too much trouble.
- He’s absolutely thriving with all of the crit item changes and buffs to AD Carries in Patch 14.10, and with no nerfs this week, he’ll continue to be one of the strongest picks you can play in the bot lane.
Support – Leona
- Leona has been a super consistent pick recently and with the high damage aggressive ADC meta right now, she’s the perfect fit.
- Leona offers insane gank set up and teamfight initiation, proving an amazing addition to any draft, so if an engaging playstyle is your thing, she’s a top choice.

Top – Rumble
- Rumble is back in the S tier again in high elo and proving to be an incredible pick to play in the right matchups.
- Heis an anti-melee lane stomping machine who can easily get ahead in the lane phase with his strong early damage and then start pumping out some serious numbers in teamfights with his insane AoE damage.
- One good Ultimate is all it takes to win a major fight and turn the tables in any game, so give him a go if you haven’t already!
Jungle – Nidalee
- Nidalee has always been an amazing pick in the right hands in high elo and right now she’s back to her best again.
- Nidalee has a super high skill ceiling and plenty of ways to express your quality and carry against the odds, with clutch spears, perfect pounces and tons of burst and utility too.
- She does take a bit of practice to play optimally and you won’t wanna get behind on her, but when you start snowballing, it’s free LP right now if you’re good enough to pull her off!
Mid – Leblanc
- Leblanc is proving once again that in high elo she’s not to be underestimated. She is the ultimate lane controlling, roaming, bursting powerhouse, with tons of mobility and damage to carry any game in any draft.
- There’s genuinely not too many mid lane picks that can deal with Leblanc’s lane phase right now, and once she gets going she spikes and snowballs insanely fast, so watch out for her this patch.
Bottom – Corki
- Corki’s back in the bot lane now bringing out some serious damage from as early as level 1. His Minigun is destroying bot lanes and once he gets a few items his burst damage with E, Q & the Big Rocket on his ultimate is one shotting entire backlines in less than a second!
- His limited range does mean there are some more difficult matchups for him, but with so many aggressive CC supports in the meta right now, lock them up and burst them down and you’ll be rewarded with plenty of LP this patch.
Support – Nautilus
- Nautilus is one of the most reliable engaging supports in the game, and with AD Carries being back to their best against in split 2, he’s the perfect pick to get stuck into 2v2s and snowball games seriously quickly.
- Nautilus not only has the widest hook in the game, but also has that point and click ultimate, giving him the ability to shut down enemy carries without too much counterplay!
Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our LoL Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.
Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.
